5,000 Samurdhi Development Officers Granted Permanent Appointments After 21 Years

In a historic and heartfelt ceremony, 5,000 Samurdhi Development Officers were awarded permanent appointments after serving the nation for over 21 years. The event was held on 15th September 2019 at Araliyagaha Mandiraya, under the patronage of Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe, and was organized under the concept of Minister of Primary Industries and Social Empowerment, Hon. Daya Gamage.

As part of this initiative, each officer will receive an increased allowance of Rs. 10,000, along with Rs. 2,500 added to their monthly salary, and all benefits entitled to permanent government employees.

The event also marked a special occasion as it coincided with Minister Daya Gamage’s birthday. In recognition of his decades-long service to the people and his role in empowering the Samurdhi community, Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe presented a special plaque to Minister Gamage, honoring his dedication and contribution to national development.

Additionally, Minister Gamage announced pension benefits for 1,000 retired Samurdhi Officers and extended support to the legal heirs of 500 deceased officers, ensuring that their lifelong service is respectfully acknowledged.
