Twenty lives were lost in the devastating Raksawakanda landslide in Paragala, Dolosbage, under the Gangaiha Divisional Secretariat, following days of intense rainfall

The massive earth slip began around 7:00 PM on November 27, cascading nearly two kilometers downhill, engulfing homes and livelihoods in its path. Over 100 people from 46 families were directly affected. Two rows of estate line houses—home to tea estate workers and daily wage earners—were completely destroyed. Personal belongings, including three-wheelers, were buried within minutes.
